6.F. - Page 1 of 33 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: November 25, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />Purchase of five new 2020 Ford Ranger Super Cab XL Pick-up Trucks <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />From the City Manager <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement to purchase five new 2020 <br />Ford Ranger Super Cab XL Pick-up Trucks in the amount of $134,866.14 from Towne Ford of Redwood <br />City, California. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and <br />equipment in order to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At <br />pre -described intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited <br />to, age, mileage, condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage, and vehicle <br />capabilities. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Ford Ranger is a mid-sized, light-duty pick-up truck utilized by a variety of classifications across all <br />external service -delivering departments. In 2012, Ford Motor Company discontinued the Ranger, <br />eliminating the availability of a viable piece of equipment for purchase within the City's fleet. However, in <br />2019, Ford relaunched the redesigned and re -engineered Ranger for purchase once again. The City has an <br />overall inventory of 17 Rangers.
