6.C. - Page 1 of 7 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: December 16, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Side Letter of agreement between the City of Redwood City and the International Association of Fire <br />Fighters (IAFF) Local 2400 <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve Side Letter of agreement between City of Redwood City and IAFF Local 2400 amending <br />language in the 2019-2021 MOU regarding education incentive pay. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City is committed to investing in staff leadership, skill development and other human resources <br />strategies to attract, develop, support and retain a highly qualified, valued and diverse municipal <br />workforce. To support this commitment, City staff work closely and collaboratively with the City Council <br />and employee groups to develop recommended salary and benefit changes. <br />In March 2019, the City Council approved a new MOU between the City and IAFF Local 2400 that included <br />an agreement that the parties would establish an Education Incentive Committee comprised of City and <br />IAFF Local 2400 representatives to discuss potential changes to the Education Incentive benefit.
