6.E. - Page 1 of 97 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />\:3aAW <br />DATE: December 16, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />Purchase of one new 2020 Freightliner dump truck <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />From the City Manager <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement to purchase one (1) new <br />2020 Freightliner dump truck in the amount of $143,336 from Golden Gate Truck Center of Oakland, CA. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City's Fleet Replacement Program is designed to provide a structure for evaluating vehicles and <br />equipment in order to replace them at the most economically advantageous point in their life cycle. At <br />pre -designated intervals, vehicles and equipment undergo a thorough evaluation including but not limited <br />to, age, mileage, condition, maintenance history, downtime, anticipated future repairs, usage, and vehicle <br />capabilities. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Water Operations Division of the Public Works Services Department owns and operates a 2002 Ford <br />F750 Dump Truck for hauling material to and from job sites for various functions including but not limited <br />to new construction and system maintenance, as well as emergency response and main -break repairs. <br />The current vehicle has exceeded its useful life and is now in need of replacement. While selecting the <br />vehicle best suited for replacement, staff from the Equipment Services Division and the Water Operations <br />Division have agreed that the replacement should be a Freightliner M2 106 12 -foot dump truck.
