In order to comply with the 2018 Update to the <br />CEQA Guidelines, a discussion of the wildfire impacts is included <br />here. <br />46 <br />The urban core of Redwood City is less than 1 mile southeast of a The proposed project would <br />very high fire hazard severity zone that covers the southern and result in less than significant <br />western hillsides. The project would not impair an adopted emergency <br />response or emergency evacuation plan. <br />The proposed project would not substantially increase the <br />wildfire risk, as structures would not be constructed in a very <br />high fire hazard severity zone. Fire tends to burn and spread <br />uphill, and the hillside area generally slopes uphill toward the <br />southwest, away from the developed areas of the City. <br />New roads would not be required under the proposed project, <br />and utility infrastructure required for development that may be <br />facilitated by the project would occur in an already urbanized <br />core, which would result in negligible temporary or ongoing <br />environmental impacts. Therefore, the risk of wildfire would not <br />be exacerbated. <br />All MULW zoned areas are located in urbanized areas and would <br />not increase the need for fuel breaks or emergency water <br />sources in the hillside area to protect structures from wildfire. <br />The areas zoned MULW are flat with little to no wildfire fuels or <br />vegetation cover prone to ignition. If a structural fire or large <br />urban fire were to occur in the flat, urbanized areas of Redwood <br />City, the risk of flooding or landslides afterward would be <br />negligible because of the topography and because little soil <br />would be exposed due to the developed conditions. <br />663 <br />
