VOCQ 1
Increased housing density tied to community benefits?
Group text question asked Thursday, December 12,2019,3:00 PM:
Hi, its Brian from VOCA. This weeks question is about residential zoning near downtown.
BACKGROUND: Next Monday City Council will consider new zoning for about two dozen blocks near
downtown. Proposed zoning would double allowed housing density if developers include community
benefits as part of their projects. Possible benefits include public open space, public parking, a
childcare facility, additional affordable housing, etc.
QUESTION: Should increased housing density be tied to developers providing community benefits?
A) No, density should be increased without strings attached
B) Yes, only increase density if developers pay for city improvements
C) No, density should not be increased, regardless of benefits
D) Neutral or don't know
MORE INFO: Tap https://voc.as/cm_bft for details of the city's community benefits program.
450
400
350
300
250
200
150
100
50
00
A
0
Aebw
101
an C, do.
