The
Library was completed in 2008 and sits adjacent to the water and Marine Parkway, a heavily transited
thoroughfare. At the time of construction there were minimal improvements to the landscape installed
around the building. With the exception of the shared regional pathway along the levee and the Library's
wooden decks immediately adjacent to the building high off the ground, the Library currently does not
offer useable outdoor spaces.
In 2016, the City Council approved the acquisition of a large interactive sculptural art piece, Pirate Ship,
by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov originally installed in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The ship was originally created
as a temporary installation for the Fung Collaboratives exhibition titled Artlantic, in Atlantic City, New
Page 1 of 4
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
M
