6.C. - Page 3 of 11 <br />Fung Collaborative had initially suggested that the ship restoration work be performed outside of the <br />design and be called out as a City furnished, contractor installed item. However, after researching <br />requirements needed for this, the proposed approach is not feasible. The amendment reflects the <br />additional services required as follows: <br />• Incorporate the restoration, modification and construction of the pirate ship into the construction <br />drawings <br />• Manage the architect and structural engineer <br />• Produce exhibits required by BCDC for the finalization of the permit to comply with sea level rise <br />resilience <br />• Coordinate subconsultant civil engineer <br />• Provide design modification regarding access to pirate ship, if design is value engineered <br />The restoration of the ship as well as the structural engineering is required to transform the ship to a <br />publicly interactive feature. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The original agreement with Balmori Associates, Inc. was for $59,900 and the recommended amendment <br />amount is $21,000, for an aggregate agreement of $80,900. The project would be funded from the <br />Redwood Shores Library Playground CIP account (358-73957). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />The project is categorically exempt per Section 15304 Class 4 "Minor Alterations to Land" for the <br />construction of new pathways, changes to existing landscaping, grading, and cut and fill of soils.
