LETTER OF AGREEMENT <br />Rhonda Leipelt, President <br />Redwood City Police Officer's Association <br />Redwood City, California <br />Dear Officer Leipelt: <br />This side letter of agreement is to formalize the lateral incentive recruitment <br />program, which has been in place on a pilot basis since October of 1999. <br />The lateral incentive recruitment program entails the following: <br />1. Shorten the probationary period for lateral Police Officer new hires to 12 <br />months. <br />2. Shorten the FTO program for lateral Police Officer new hires based upon their <br />performance. <br />3. Lateral Police Officer new hires can transfer accrued and unused sick leave <br />from their previous agency up to 200 hours. Lateral new hires would not be <br />able to cash out at year's end 50% of sick leave accrued during that year until <br />completion of probation. <br />4. Lateral Police Officer new hires would assume at hire a vacation accrual rate <br />based upon their total years of full-time sworn law enforcement experience. <br />5. Any Police Department employee who recruits a lateral candidate who is <br />hired will receive five hundred dollars when the lateral hire successfully <br />passes the FTO program.
