6.C. - Page 1 of 30 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: January 27, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Waive second reading and adopt ordinance for Mixed -Use Live/Work (MULW) Zoning Code <br />amendments <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Waive second reading and adopt an ordinance amending Articles 2, 3, 30, 31, 53, 54, 55, and 60 of the <br />Redwood City zoning ordinance relating to Mixed -Use Live/Work (MULW) areas. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Housing <br />BACKGROUND <br />On December 16, 2019, the City Council by a unanimous vote introduced an ordinance amending the <br />Mixed -Use Live/Work Zoning text and Zoning Map by amending Zoning Ordinance Articles 2 (Definitions), <br />3 (Designation of Districts), 30 (Off -Street Parking and Loading), 31 (Special Uses), 53 (Mixed -Use Corridor <br />District), 54 (Mixed -Use Neighborhood District), 55 (Mixed -Use Live/Work District), and 60 (Zoning District <br />Boundaries - Maps) and revising the name of the "Mixed -Use Live/Work" Zoning District to "Mixed -Use <br />Transitional". This is the second reading as required by law. If adopted, the ordinance will go into effect <br />in 30 days. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The amendments contained in the Ordinance (Attachment 1) allow more flexible uses (including <br />standalone multifamily residential), permit height and density increases from current levels in exchange <br />for community benefits, simplify standards for live/work units to address development barriers, and revise <br />the name of the Zoning District to "Mixed -Use Transitional".
