Surplus personal property is
considered all personal property belonging to the City that is deemed obsolete, worn out, no longer used,
or unsuitable for use. This classification excludes money, firearms, animals, and library materials. Some
surplus property, such as vehicles or motorized equipment, no longer used by the City, could be used by
government affiliates or non-profit organizations in need of such resources. In addition, the auction or
sale of surplus property can generate revenue for the City that can be used to purchase new replacement
equipment. Section 3-1/2 of the Redwood City Charter allows for the disposal of property for the common
benefit subject to any provisions that the City Council may enact by ordinance.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
