This report is for informational
purposes only. There is no staff recommendation.
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE
Government Operations
BACKGROUND
Redwood City has periodically conducted a city-wide survey to measure community satisfaction with City
services, programs, quality of life, sense of community, communication and customer service, and other
relevant information to help the City better understand the interests, concerns and needs of residents.
The City has completed surveys in 2015, 2010, 2008, 2003, and 2001. This survey allows City staff to
capture metrics and data that can be useful for the prioritization of future City initiatives and budgeting.
Following a competitive bid process, the City of Redwood City contracted with EMC Research, a full-service
market research and data analytics firm with over 30 years of experience, to conduct the 2019 Community
Satisfaction Survey. In addition to soliciting feedback in the same general areas, the most recent survey
also specifically sought feedback on the City Council's top priority areas: housing, transportation, and
children and youth. EMC Research worked closely with City staff on the development of the questionnaire,
and the City Council Communications Subcommittee reviewed and provided input on the survey
questionnaire in advance of polling taking place.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
2
