Replacement shall be at no cost for the first ten (10) years <br />from the date of shipment, and for the remaining ten (10) years, at a prorated percentage. <br />For meters 1 %" through 10" all -electronic meters and registers shall not contain any mechanical <br />gearing to display flow and accurate totalization. The register shall be magnetically driven by the <br />motion of the measuring element blade position. Any and all additional intermediate, magnetic or <br />mechanical, drive couplings are not acceptable. Exceptions may be made for electromagnetic and <br />ultrasonic type meters. The register shall have a 10 -year battery performance guarantee. <br />All registers shall have indicators for flow direction, battery life and unit of measurement. Registers <br />shall be capable of transmitting alarms for low battery conditions and other alarms originating with the <br />meter/register via a compatible Sensus FlexNet AMI SmartPoint to the FlexNet head end software. <br />Registers/meters not capable of passing alarms through the FlexNet SmartPoint will be evaluated and <br />may be rejected by the City at its sole discretion. <br />4.0 Meter Main Case <br />Meter main cases and parts that contact drinking water must meet NSF 61. Register boxes and lids <br />must be bronze or thermal plastic. <br />Epoxy coatings shall be provided as standard fusion -bonded and adhere to NSF standards for non -lead <br />regulation compliance. <br />If applicable the main case bottom plate must provide frost protection and shall be made of like <br />material found in the main body of the meter and be in accordance with the latest version of the <br />applicable AWWA C700 family of specifications. <br />5.0 Low Lead <br />All wetted surfaces in contact with potable water shall comply with California and/or Federal <br />regulations regarding lead. <br />6.0 Battery Life <br />The expected life of the battery powering the AMI communication module is twenty (20) years or more. <br />Normal operating conditions require the battery to power the AMI communication module and provide <br />six (6) data transmissions per day. The Proposer will provide the City with a battery warrantee and pro- <br />rated compensation schedule for batteries not lasting twenty (20) years. Batteries failing within ten <br />(10) years of purchase shall be replaced at no charge including any and all associated module shipping <br />and replacement costs. <br />For all meters 5/8" x 3/4", 3/4", and 1" the expected life of the battery powering the meter and register <br />is 20 years.
