6.B. - Page 1 of 14 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: February 24, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Purchase of six mechanical chest compression devices (Lucas Devices) from Stryker Sales Corporation <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, authorize the City Manager to execute an Agreement for Goods, Commodities, and Services <br />to purchase six Lucas Devices from Stryker Sales Corporation in the total amount of $126,823. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />A Lucas Device is an easy-to-use mechanical chest compression device that assists the Fire Department <br />(The Department) in delivering high-quality, guideline -consistent chest compressions to sudden cardiac <br />arrest patients. Due to the quality of cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) the use of these devices have <br />increased patient survival. These devices have a shelf life of about five years. The Department owns six <br />devices that were purchased approximately seven years ago. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Department is requesting funding to purchase six Lucas Devices in the current fiscal year. A Lucas <br />Device is a mechanical chest compression device that assists the Fire Department (RCFD) in delivering high <br />quality, American Heart Association (AHA) guideline -consistent compressions to sudden cardiac arrest <br />patients. RCFD is replacing six Lucas 1(air-actuated) devices that have reached the end of their service life <br />and are no longer supported by the manufacturer for maintenance and repairs.
