The Municipal Code does not exempt able-bodied veterans conducting a business
in Redwood City from paying business license taxes.
Governor Newsom approved Assembly Bill (AB) 498 on September 5, 2019, which expanded business
license tax exemptions to include all veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States who are residents
of the State and are selling or providing services if the veteran is the sole proprietor of the business. This
matter is recognized as a statewide concern and therefore applies to all cities, including Redwood City.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
156
