8.A. - Page 54 of 72 <br />Install the Pirate Ship art installation/imaginative play area at the <br />Delayed; design development plan has been completed and construction <br />Redwood Shores Branch Library by December 2019 (PRCS) <br />drawings are being finalized, including structural engineering, to create <br />access on top of the Pirate Ship. The Bay Conversation and Development <br />Corp (BCDC) is conducting a thorough review of the plans and planting <br />palette, and have provided initial comments to staff, which has delayed the <br />installation timeline. Though timing is fluid right now, installation is <br />targeted for December 2020. <br />Create a new makerspace/technology lab for people of all ages at the <br />Delayed; Library staff worked with ELS Architecture to develop multiple <br />Downtown Library by April 2020 (LIB) <br />alternatives for review at three public meetings, including one specifically <br />for teens, in January 2020. A final design has been selected, and the <br />architect is preparing construction drawings and cost estimates in the <br />spring of 2020. These documents will support fundraising by the Redwood <br />City Library Foundation for construction costs. The current goal is to <br />complete fundraising during 2020 before putting the construction out to <br />bid. <br />Increase by 20% the Library's program offering wireless hot spots and <br />In progress; as of December 2019, there were 567 devices checked out. <br />mobile devices for home use by circulating 1200 devices by June 2020 <br />(LIB) <br />Advance the conceptual plan for updating Roselli Garden as part of the <br />In progress; Staff issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the <br />Downtown Parks initiative by summer 2020 (PRCS) <br />Downtown Parks and Bay Connectivity Project in December 2019. RFQ's are <br />due by February 18, 2020, which will be presented to the Parks, Recreation <br />and Community Services Commission. The goal is to have the selected <br />consultant on -board by summer 2020 and then launch a robust community <br />outreach effort. <br />Explore options to provide teen programming similar to social service <br />In progress; Staff continues to explore program opportunities with a goal to <br />office hours at the Downtown Library beginning in 2020 (LIB) <br />launch in 2020. <br />GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND GOALS 7 289 <br />
