8.A. - Page 67 of 72 <br />TRANSPORTATION <br />Promote the best travel experience possible for everyone in Redwood City by creating and maintaining <br />safe, multimodal, and accessible transportation network. <br />GOALS <br />UPDATE <br />Address challenges community members are experiencing due to the <br />Complete; Staff provided additional traffic enforcement at the start of <br />Redwood City School District's consolidation of elementary school sites. <br />the 2019-20 school year, as well as increased citywide <br />Goals include contract with a Safe Routes to School consultant to update <br />communications to help residents prepare for new traffic patterns, <br />walking and biking maps, and support creation of biking school buses; <br />including coordinating with the School District and Redwood City 2020 <br />implement additional traffic enforcement for four weeks at the start of the <br />staff. In addition, members of the Transportation Advisory Committee <br />2019-20 school year; and, increase citywide communications to help <br />(TAC) volunteered at MAZE Day events to share information about <br />residents across the City prepare for new transportation patterns around <br />walking, biking and bus options for the schools. The City established <br />schools in August 2019 <br />the Neighborhood Traffic Ambassadors program with over 30 <br />volunteers who assisted parents and children with traffic related <br />inquiries the first two weeks of the school year. <br />Kick off the Roosevelt Traffic Calming project and present design options for <br />In progress; Staff initiated the project and held two community <br />community input by October 2019 and preferred design alternatives in early <br />meetings to develop and refine the design in 2019. The preferred <br />2020 <br />design alternative is nearing completion and is on target to be <br />finalized in early 2020. <br />Increasing parking enforcement staffing by two positions (for a total of 4 <br />Delayed; on boarding will begin of the two newly hired neighborhood <br />positions) by fall 2019 to address additional neighborhood parking and <br />parking enforcement officers in March 2020.
