S.C. - Page 1 of 4 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: March 23, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Award of construction contract for Winslow Street, Bradford Street, and Allerton Street Pedestrian <br />Enhancements Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve, and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract documents and award the <br />standard form contract for the Winslow Street, Bradford Street, and Allerton Street Pedestrian <br />Enhancements Project to GradeTech, Inc. of San Ramon for their bid of $324,440.00 and authorize the <br />City Manager to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the amount awarded. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />On November 9, 2015, the City Council approved the development project at 550 Allerton Street, a 6 - <br />story, 69,846 sq. ft. office building. As a part of the Engineering Division conditions of approval, the project <br />was required to enter into an agreement with the City for off-site improvements at the intersection of <br />Winslow Street, Bradford Street, and Allerton Street. The improvements include a continuous sidewalk <br />along Winslow Street, closing vehicle access to Winslow Street from Allerton and Bradford Streets, bulb - <br />outs, street trees, and striping. These improvements will provide for safer crossings for bicyclist and <br />pedestrians through what is currently a large uncontrolled intersection. <br />On July 5, 2017, the Agreement to Fund Required Improvements (the "Agreement") was executed with <br />the developer, which laid out terms for the developer to pay its fair share and to prepare design drawings <br />for the project.
