S.E. - Page 1 of 21 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: April 13, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Bid Award — Peninsula 2 Potable Water Tank Seismic Improvement Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract documents and award the <br />standard form contract for the Peninsula 2 Potable Water Tank Seismic Improvement Project to Valentine <br />Corporation of San Rafael for their responsive and responsible low total bid of $1,298,369.00. Also <br />authorize the City Manager to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the amount <br />awarded. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />On December 17, 2018 City Council accepted the Hazard Mitigation Grant Award from the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal <br />OES) and authorized the City Manager to execute the grant agreement and provide all necessary grant <br />assurance documentation to design and build the Peninsula 2 Potable Water Tank Seismic Improvement <br />Project (Attachment D). <br />On the same day, the City Council also adopted Resolution No. 15727 (Attachment C), approving an <br />appropriation amendment to Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Water Fund Capital Projects budget and increased <br />revenues by $1,218,945.50 and increased expenditures by $1,218,945.50 for grant acceptance and project <br />implementation, respectively; and transferred $500,000.00 of fund reserves from the Water Operation <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />112 <br />
