Redwood
Shores is fortunate to have an abundance of areas that people can walk freely and keep the
required distance. We have over 5 miles of wide levees that surrounds and connects
the neighborhood, along with wide sidewalks and various pathways that run throughout the
area.
Bridge is a major through -way for the Shores. It'a also the only way in and out for the Dolphin
Park residents. There's no parking on any of the parkways which would encourage people to
park on the residential areas.
As the President of the Redwood Shores Community Association, we feel this proposal for the
Shores is not necessary. We believe it will cause more confusion when we're in the
position that the rules keep changing. Also it encourages people from other areas to come out
to the Shores which isn't something we should be doing at this time.
We believe the resource can be used in other ways, such as checking that people from out of
the Shores obey the shelter -at-home rules. There are reports of people coming to congregate in
groups in closed public spaces and even private property along the lagoon.
It should also be noted that, as an association, the first we are hearing about this proposal is in
the agenda for this evenings council meeting. RSCA has not been notified that this was a
possibility. All the associations in Redwood City should have been advised that this was a
possibility and consulted on the specifics of their neighborhoods, not just finding out by the
agenda. Having a successful outcome would need to have all associations aware to be able to
communicate out to their communities. It appears this has not happened.
Please reconsider this Safe Streets closure in Redwood Shores.
Regards, Sue Nix
Redwood Shores resident for 33 years
