I think this could cause confusion and be dangerous
to pedestrians and bicyclists. I also feel that closing off direct access across one of the three
major Shores thoroughfares seems unwise in the event of an emergency.
Closing Bridge Pkwy to cars will impede access for those who live in communities along
Bridge Parkway (Marlin Park and Dolphin Park), as well as communities along Marine World
Parkway near Bridge Pkwy ( Shorebird Island, Shorebird Circle, Pelican Cove, Peninsula
Landing) to our closest marketplace and restaurants, forcing us to make large loops around the
Shores as we circumvent Bridge to access the Marketplace on Redwood Shores Pkwy.
We have miles of pathways and levees in the Shores for walking and biking. Pedestrians and
bicyclists can walk and ride at street level under the Bridge overpass in addition to walking
over the bridge on the existing paved sidewalk.
There is also a cost involved with doing this, and it does not make sense (to me) to use City
funds especially at this economic time.
I appreciate all you do for us in Redwood Shores and your desire to provide a safe recreational
experience for the members of our community, but I do not think it is necessary, and the
potential cons outweigh the pros.
Stay well.
Rona Gundrum
Redwood Shores resident 32 years
Board of Directors, Shorebird Island
Board of Directors, RSCA
