I can see what the intended effect of such a closure is trying to do but I don't think you
clearly understand how crowed with cars this street is. The street barely has room for little more
than 1 car passing through at a time. Closing the street to regular traffic will not improve this
problem and magically make it an open street.
Furthermore, from what I can see out my window right now people are staying 6 ft. away from eacl-
otherjust fine on the sidewalks, which is seldom, because we don't have much pedestrian traffic on
the sidewalks here even under normal circumstances.
In my opinion, this is a solution looking for a problem. Maybe this should be done in a more affluent
area where the street is much wider, cars parked on the street are not as densely packed, and
closing off the street would not be as disruptive. My neighbors and I have been going to Red Morton
park without issue where the surrounding area is much more open.
This type of closure could be useful on a road that is near a park or a beach that doesn't have
residential units on either side of the street.
Theoretically this could work here (Poplar Ave) if there were no cars on the street; but unless you
intend to tow several hundred cars that are packed in here right now and leave people without
transportation to get their groceries; I think this is ill-advised.
I my opinion the ordinance should not passed OR at least better thought be put into closing streets
that are much wider and not as dense.
Thank you,
Hector Gonzalez
Apartment Resident of Poplar Ave
