We have several apartment buildings where families, school-age children,
and seniors live. With the "Shelter At Home Order" in place, our streets are increasingly
filled with walkers, runners, families, children, strollers, bicycles, and scooters each day.
After reading the Staff Report and attachments, I was concerned that not a single street
in all of District 7, was selected for consideration in the "Slow Streets" Program. The
Staff Report indicates a "desire to have streets spread throughout the City" to ensure
equity and inclusion. Yet, an entire District, where 1/7 of the total population of
Redwood City residents live, was excluded.
I have spoken with several Farm Hill, Canyon, and Edgewood Park residents. Several
families have expressed a desire to have at least one street from their neighborhood
considered for this program, should it move forward.
Thank you for your consideration.
Chris Rasmussen
