From: Martha Cullimore
To: PublicComment
Subject: Bridge Parkway/Safe Streets Program Proposal
Date: Friday, April 24, 2020 4:08:20 PM
I note in your agenda that you are considering the inclusion of the bridge on Bridge Parkway
in Redwood Shores as part of your Safe Streets closures.
As a resident of Redwood Shores, I request that you reconsider this Bridge Parkway location
for the following reasons:
1. This bridge is on a regular route of Sam Trans.
2. The lower slopes of the bridge roadway are not visible from one side to the other.
Therefore, anyone walking or bicycling on the roadway will not be visible from vehicular
traffic on their approach to the summit. This puts the pedestrians or bicycle riders in peril of
being hit.
3. Redwood Shores has miles of wide trails, wide sidewalks and wide levee pathways on
which the residents are safely walking and riding now, while successfully socially distancing.
There are also wide walkways on each side of the bridge. The community does not need an
additional half -mile of roadway on which to walk or ride.
4. The bridge is a transit route for hundreds of residents whose neighborhoods abut Bridge
Parkway. It's closure would add miles to their daily transit between Marine World Parkway
and their homes.
Please reconsider this Safe Streets closure. It would clearly and unnecessarily inhibit the safety
of Redwood Shores residents and visitors.
MARTHA CULLIMORE
Email: martha.cullimore@gmail.com
Ph: 650.576.4067
