From: Emma Shlaes
To: PublicComment
Subject: 8A Slow Streets Program - public comment 4/27/20
Date: Monday, April 27, 2020 7:46:09 PM
Good evening Mayor Howard and City Council Members. My name is Emma Shlaes and I'm
the Deputy Director of Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.
We really appreciate Redwood City considering this Slow Streets Program and thank staff for
this thoughtful proposal.
In this crazy time, getting outside is a boost to physical and mental health. There are also
fewer cars on the road.
In this context, SVBC supports closing some streets to through traffic to allow more space for
people to walk and bike while remaining 6 feet apart.
This will also facilitate walking and biking for essential trips to the grocery store as well as to
essential jobs.
SVBC is ready to support Redwood City in this program in whatever way is most helpful.
',S P,'Thank you for your consideration.
Emma Shlaes
Deputy Director
Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition
96 N.
