Mayor Foust stated that the Utilities Committee will meet on January 9, 2008 and <br />that they will discuss the idea further on when this item comes back with a <br />recommendation to Council possibly in January. Council Member Ira stated that the <br />Utilities Committee did not have a specific timeframe in mind, but that they have <br />been more concerned with looking at the long -term policy decisions. <br />Council Member Aguirre thanked the Downtown Business Group, parents, children, <br />community, and staff for their work on the Hometown for the Holidays event. She <br />said this was one of the best ever fireworks display and parade and she noted that <br />the event brings out community spirit. <br />Council Member Bain thanked Engineering and Construction Manager Chang and <br />the Engineering and Construction Departments for the meeting held last Monday at <br />the Peninsula Christian Church to discuss possible changes to make things more <br />pedestrian - friendly in that area. <br />Council Member Pierce thanked all the departments who sent creative, <br />representational items for the City holiday tree that she and Mayor Foust decorated. <br />She stated that the trees are in the windows at the Courthouse Square and <br />encouraged people to vote for their favorite ones. Mayor Foust stated that ballots <br />for this Downtown Business Group contest can be obtained at Savvy Cellar, Fox <br />Theater, City Hall, the downtown library, the downtown Century Theater, and Lulu's. <br />She stated that the deadline for voting is 5 p.m., Wednesday, December 19 th. <br />Mayor Foust stated that there are two other events tomorrow on December 11 th . At <br />the Fair Oaks Community Center, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 200 families will be <br />receiving trees and the trimmings through a contact of Council Member Bain's and <br />an Atherton resident. She stated that there will also be an event to help wrap gifts <br />for the Police and Firefighters Associations' annual toy and book drive at Red <br />Morton Community Center at 5 p.m. <br />9.
