There was no public comment. <br />M/S Howard/Hartnett to close the public hearing. Motion carries unanimously by a roll <br />call vote. <br /> <br />One Council Member suggested neighbors be given the option to work together and enlarge <br />the pedestrian access area through a cost sharing agreement. Council shared concerns <br />about the overall drainage issues in that area. Staff took note of those concerns and <br />responded to some. The issue of increased liability for the City was discussed and staff <br />said it could look at the issue. <br /> <br />M/S Aguirre/Howard to introduce the ordinance and make the findings. Motion carries <br />unanimously by a roll call vote. <br /> <br />8. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br />A. Legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br />Priority Focus Bulletin No. 01-2008. Council may direct staff to act on positions <br />taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus available in <br />City Clerk's Department). <br /> <br />B. Joint Meeting of City Council and Library Board. <br /> <br />Departmental presentation (Library Department) <br />Library Director Genesy gave a presentation about this department mentioning <br />accomplishments and highlights. (Presentation on file). He spoke about programmatic <br />sustainability and how it can be accomplished. Mayor Foust thanked Mr. Genesy for his <br />personal monetary contributions to the project of providing 140 backpacks for needy <br />children. Mr. Genesy spoke about the Redwood Shores Library that will open in late <br />summer 2008. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust said that there is still $90,000 to be raised for the Redwood Shores Library. <br />Council Member Pierce thanked Mayor Foust and community member Paula Uccelli for <br />their hard work towards this cause. <br /> <br />Council took at five minute break at 8:10 p.m. The meeting resumed at 8:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust provided some context on why the Council is meeting with the Library Board. <br />She was looking for an exchange of information and she said that the Ad Hoc Committee <br />(composed of the Mayor and Vice Mayor) had come up with the questions. <br />Assistant City Manager Bell facilitated the meeting. <br /> <br />The joint session had the following agenda: introductions, overview of the board, <br />conversation on topics/issues and review next steps.
