6.G. - Page 2 of 6 <br />ANALYSIS <br />The contractor, Chrisp Co. of Fremont, has completed the construction of improvements in accordance <br />with the agreement, plans and specifications, and to the satisfaction of the City's Engineering & <br />Transportation Division. <br />Construction started July 2019 and was completed September 2019. The project was completed following <br />City specifications on time and within budget. Three contract change orders, resulting in a cost decrease <br />of $99,104.70, were issued for quantity adjustments and changes to the project scope. <br />In addition, in light of positive unit pricing, good contractor performance and favorable weather <br />conditions, two locations were added to the project: <br />1. Alameda de Las Pulgas (from Hetch Hetchy to Harding Avenue) <br />2. Island Parkway and a public parking lot (near Marine Parkway in Redwood Shores) <br />The final cost of the completed project was $744,637.45, 12% less than the initially awarded contract <br />amount. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funding for this project was previously approved and appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 budget. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />Accepting the project and releasing bonds and retention is not a project under the California <br />Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in the CEQA Guidelines, section 15378 because it has no <br />potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the <br />environment. The City determined when it awarded the contract that the project was categorically <br />exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines pursuant to <br />Section 15301 Class 1 "Existing Facilities." <br />PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72 <br />hours prior to the meeting. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of bonds and retention, <br />which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior City Council action, and public contracting <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />133 <br />
