Currently, Clinton Street is two-way stop -controlled and Harrison Avenue is uncontrolled.
Resident concerns are related to right-of-way conflicts at the intersection and high pedestrian activity due
to its proximity to North Star Academy and McKinley Institute of Technology. After receiving these
concerns, staff evaluated the intersection for all -way stop control according to local and state standards.
ANALYSIS
The intersection of Harrison Avenue and Clinton Street is adjacent to North Star Academy (151 grade to 81h
grade) and McKinley Institute of Technology (61h grade to 8th grade), which generate significant pedestrian
activity. This condition satisfies Section 213.07 of the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices,
which allows municipalities to install multi -way stop signs where there is a need to control
vehicle/pedestrian conflicts at locations that generate high pedestrian volumes.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
138
