7.A. - Page 1 of 7 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />\:3aAW <br />DATE: May 18, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Modify the Boards, Commissions and Committees Attendance Policy to align calculation of attendance <br />with the fiscal year <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve the revised Boards, Commissions and Committees Attendance Policy to align the <br />administration of the policy with the fiscal year, July 1 through June 30, for the purposes of attendance <br />calculation as recommended by the City Council's Governance Sub -Committee (Council Member Borgens, <br />Vice Mayor Masur and Mayor Howard). <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 24, 2019, the City Council adopted the Boards Commissions and Committees (BCC) Attendance <br />Policy to encourage and ensure consistent attendance at regularly scheduled BCC meetings by BCC <br />members, and to outline a process to address non-attendance. The City Clerk began recording member <br />attendance for the purposes of administering this policy from the date of policy adoption, June 24, 2019. <br />ANALYSIS <br />After nearly one year of administering the policy, staff has analyzed and reflected on the process of <br />administering the policy and communicating with BCC members who have missed multiple meetings. <br />Based on this analysis, staff recommends modifying the period of attendance calculation for the purposes <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />157 <br />
