7.B. - Page 66 of 79 <br />AP -85 Other Actions — 91.220(k) <br />Introduction: <br />In addition to the specific actions stated in the Action Plan the City will undertake other actions as follows. <br />Actions planned to address obstacles to meeting underserved needs <br />The City will fund several activities that will address obstacles to meeting underserved needs including <br />housing production and preservation, homeless shelters and supportive services, human services programs <br />that meet basic human needs and economic development. <br />In making funding decisions, the City of Redwood City gives priority to activities that: <br />• Meet a goal of the 2018-2022 Consolidated Plan <br />• Demonstrate a significance of need <br />• Project or program is eligible under HUD rules <br />A priority population for CDBG-funded services is individuals (especially the elderly and people with <br />disabilities) who are denied, by poverty and historical institutional practices, the opportunity to develop their <br />full potential and to enjoy the benefits of community participation. The City of Redwood City will give <br />priority to programs provided through organizations or agencies that demonstrate a commitment to making <br />their services accessible to these residents. <br />Actions planned to foster and maintain affordable housing <br />In addition to supporting housing production and preservation activities the City funds fair housing services <br />that provides education and outreach, discrimination investigation and tenant landlord assistance. They City <br />also continues to monitor its deed restricted affordable housing to ensure compliance with affordability <br />terms. <br />Actions planned to reduce lead-based paint hazards <br />The City of Redwood will undertake lead-based paint hazard mitigation when required by the CDBG and <br />HOME housing rehabilitation regulations. This can include inspection, risk assessment, specification writing, <br />abatement, clean up, disposal work and clearance testing. This assistance will be in accordance with 24 CFR <br />35, et al. (9/15/99). A certified risk assessor will inspect all such housing. <br />Actions planned to reduce the number of poverty -level families <br />Tackling poverty is one of the most important factors in reducing social exclusion and improving the lives of <br />our residents. This strategy is crucial for demonstrating the Redwood City's commitment to tackling <br />poverty.
