6.1. -Page 21 of 52 <br />The City has approximately 27,000 street trees that comprise its urban forest. The purpose of these <br />maintenance services is to provide the City of Redwood City with the best possible tree care to maintain <br />the City's urban forest at a level expected by the City's residents, City Council, City staff, and visitors of <br />the community. The selected firm will work closely with City staff to ensure the most appropriate care. <br />I. PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS <br />It shall be understood that the Contractor will be required to perform and complete the proposed <br />tree maintenance work in a thorough and professional manner and to provide labor, tools, <br />equipment, materials and supplies necessary to complete all the work in a timely manner that will <br />meet the City's requirements. <br />At all times during contracted tree maintenance activities, the firm shall have work crews on site <br />that are represented by an English-speaking supervisor or foreman who can receive and carry out <br />instructions given by City employees. <br />Contractor must be able to perform all of the following tree maintenance services at various sites <br />throughout the City. If a contract is awarded, it will be at the City's discretion which services will <br />be required for the Contractor to perform. <br />1. <br />Full-time tree crew <br />2. <br />Tree pruning <br />3. <br />Tree removal <br />4. <br />Tree planting <br />5. <br />Stump removal <br />6. <br />Emergency response <br />7. <br />Small tree care <br />8. <br />Palm trunk skinning <br />9. <br />Data entry <br />II. PROJECT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />A. Definitions <br />Where "as directed", "as required", "as permitted", "approve", "acceptance", or words of <br />similar import are used, it shall be understood that the direction, requirement, permission, <br />approval or acceptance by the City of Redwood City is intended unless otherwise stated. As <br />used herein, "provide" shall be understood to mean "provide complete", in total. The word <br />"site" as used hereinafter shall be understood to mean the location receiving the service.
