8.A. - Page 42 of 45 Notes from Safe Parking Ad Hoc Community Meeting with Oddstad Business Owners January 23, 2020 How do you feel about this issue? • Suggestion: Find a LOT that the RV's can move to • Police enforcement is limited so the RV's need to relocate to another location and we need to enforce street cleaning due to the amount of garbage that is being produced by RV tenants • The city needs to invest into putting security cameras to patrol activity in the area because my own cameras that I put up outside of my business were stolen. • City & PD needs to amend changes in ordinance to prohibit and restrict RV's from causing issues that impact the area and the business owners • Huge concern for my safety because of the Drug dealing from the RV's. There drug activity going on and I am worried for my safety and the safety of my customers • Solution: We need to find a towing company who can accommodate a RV tow. • One day one of the RV tenants stood in the middle of the road and started spinning a stick that could of potential been dangerous and hurt a customer or any pedestrian walking by. Acts like this take away customers from my business. I lose customers because of careless acts like this. • RV's belong in a park designated for RV's NOT on the street. o Palo Alto and Mountain View had lots for RV o Lots should be affordable o As a RV business owner, these RV tenants do not help her business which is ironic o Major concern about RV oil change and waste that they produce • RV owners should receive help instead of getting rid of them and moving them around to different cities. These people need help & the city should provide the help and housing resources. I am concerned for my safety and for my business but we need to help these people. • Concerned about the drug addict issue that is formulating from the RV tenants. • Nothing is being done to address this issue. The city is rewarding the negative behavior from the RV owners. Unfair. • We need to find a proper towing company to tow the RV's away • We need to eliminate the issue by getting rid of the RV's • City is working on amending an ordinance to control and minimize the RV issue • City needs to step in and clean the area • PD is patrolling the area and also working with towing companies who can accommodate. In working with these companies there is a premium cost. • PD officers who respond to scene are doing their jobs • RV's need to leave the area for customer safety. Customers complain about RV tenants who walk around with no clothes (naked). There are children at our business and it's inappropriate. These RV tenants simply do not care! • No one is listening • Customers do not feel safe especially the children • RV's park in the same spot for over a month and there is no enforcement to move • Sept. -Dec. 2019 my business took a huge loss in revenue because I lost my customers due to "hobo village" aka RV tenants. • Last few years my business has dropping in income therefore the city loses sales tax revenue and property tax. • Concerned for customer safety. • Need to clean the needles ,feces, and trash that the RV's produce 432
