So forget about pay increases that need to be <br />made, and think about other areas where you can decrease the budget, and reallocate the <br />money to where it's needed most. The defund the police movement, at its core recognizes <br />that having more cops in the community and as first responders escalates situations and <br />creates more harm than good. So please, no excuses that your hands are tied, or that you <br />don't understand the movement so can't get behind it. And don't say that you need to pass a <br />budget soon, and there isn't enough time to implement these solutions. You've been given <br />the chance these past few weeks to educate yourself and develop solutions; you've listened to <br />my comments and the other comments from the community tonight about solutions we think <br />will make a difference. Please decrease the police budget in this proposal and show you care <br />about creating a safer and equitable community for people of color in Redwood City. <br />Thank you for listening, <br />Jared <br />
