7
City of Redwood City Page 58
 Office of the City Manager
 "
MEMCRANDUM
DATE: February 19, 2008
TO: Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Magda Gonzaiez, Deputy City Manager
CC: City Manager and Execrtive Team
RE: Results of Community Input Meetings on Council Priorities
As you know, during the last several years, we have made a concerted effort in the
areas of building community and communicafian — which are both Counci! Priorities.
We have warked hard a# creating an engaging environment and oppoctunities far the
City community to partner with the City.
Continuing our efforts with that approach, we invited the community to attend one of two
workshops where we asked far fiheir inpu# on what's important o them, where they
would like the City to be concentrating its efforts, and where they would like the Council
to focus. The results of these workshops would hen be provided as input information for
the Cifiy Council priorities review session.
These two meetings were identical sessions and were held on the evenings of
Wednesday, January 23` and Thursday, January 31 We had a total of 8a community
members in total attend the two mee#ings.
The two groups were very dynamic and excited about providing their input. We were
gratified to see that a good number af people were "new" - they had not attended a
community input session with the City in the past. We have made new contacts and will
continue to invite them to get involved in community and City issues and opportunities.
From what we saw on these two nights, we will likely see them in the future!
At each meeting we began by providing dinner and asking them to share with each
other "Te story of how you came to tive or work in Redwood City, and how you became
part of our communi#y."
Build a Great Communify Togrether
Exce/lence: Passion To Do Our Best !n Each Momenf Integrity. Do The Rrght 7"hing, Nof The Easy Thing
Service: We Care And 1t Makes A Difference Creativify: Freedom To Imagine And Courage To Act
