[1f/fB1WOV44l <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15867 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY APPROVING THE PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR THE <br />NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY LOCATED AT RED MORTON PARK, <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL <br />NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO EFFECTUATE THE ACQUISITION <br />WHEREAS, the State of California has under its jurisdiction, certain real property <br />commonly known as the Redwood City Armory site located at 939 Valota Road, County <br />of San Mateo, State of California, 9406 (the "Property"); and <br />WHEREAS, the City has had an interest in purchasing of the Property from the <br />State since 1976; and <br />WHEREAS, since 2015, the City of Redwood City (the "City") has leased the <br />Property from the State; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has made several improvements to the Property, including <br />paving and expanding the parking lot, replacing broken windows, improving flooring and <br />lighting fixtures, and painting the Armory building; and <br />WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has <br />used the Property for recreation purposes, including for youth indoor basketball, soccer, <br />volleyball, fitness programs, arts and crafts programs, and cultural programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the Government Code of the State of California Section 37350 <br />provides for the acquisition of real property for the common benefit; and <br />WHEREAS, the acquisition of the Property as an addition to the park system <br />would benefit the community at large; and <br />WHEREAS, the State desires to sell the Property to the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the fair market appraisal was conducted and the fair market value <br />was determined to be $4,391,000; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to purchase the Property pursuant to the <br />term and conditions set forth in the Purchase Agreement. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1.
