STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE Public Safety BACKGROUND The Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District (District) was established on July 27, 1987 to pay for the expense of maintaining and operating the stormwater retention basin and landscaping along Seaport Boulevard. Annual assessments are levied against commercial properties along Seaport Boulevard and in Seaport Centre for maintenance of facilities that were determined to require a level of service greater than regularly required. On June 8, 2015, the Council accepted the City Manager's and Engineer's Reports (Reports) that describes the maintenance work, costs and the formula by which annual assessments will be calculated against each assessed parcel for an aggregate amount not to exceed $212,500 for the District. On August 24, 2015, property owners of the District approved, by a vote of 100% yes, the levy of a maximum annual benefit assessment of $212,500. On the same date, the Council adopted a resolution approving the proposed annual assessments and authorizing the County to levy and collect the assessments. The assessment was to be levied annually, without additional mail ballot proceedings, so long as maintenance expenses are incurred.
