Bayshore — Proposal to Build 60 Ownership Townhomes
Dear Jeff,
On behalf of the San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® (SAMCAR), we are writing to confirm
our support for Regis Homes' proposal to redevelop 505 E. Bayshore, Redwood City. SAMCAR
understands the housing imbalance remains as one of the Region's biggest problems. Part of our
Mission Statement is to promote the ownership of real property.
The proposal to redevelop 505 E. Bayshore provides this much needed housing in two forms that have
been missing in Redwood City — Ownership Housing and Below Market Rate Ownership Housing. Most
of the housing produced in the last decade in Redwood City has been rental apartments. Regis' proposal
for 505 E. Bayshore provides this "Missing Middle" housing that is so very needed.
SAMCAR was also impressed by Regis' proposal to invest in this property and improve the area, this
gateway to the Blair Island neighborhood. The new inner bay trail and improvements to Bayshore Road
will vastly improve the aesthetics; provide pedestrian & bicycle safety; and be a benefit to the surrounding
community.
Thank you again for your thoughtful proposal to improve 505 E. Bayshore. SAMCAR enthusiastically
supports Regis' effort to obtain approval from the City of Redwood City including the General Plan
Gatekeeper and project specific entitlements.
Regards,
Thank you,
Gina Zari
Director of Government Affairs
San Mateo County Association of REALTORS®
850 Woodside Way, San Mateo, California 94401 • (650) 696-8200 • fax.
