6.A. - Page 1 of 4 /<�ik Redwood CitylCallifornia Faunded 1867 A,&/ DATE: August 24, 2020 SUBJECT STAFF REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the City Manager Approval of amendment of construction contract with O'Grady Paving, Inc. for Redwood City Pavement Preservation Project (Twin Dolphin Overlay) RECOMMENDATION By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to increase the contract amount for the Redwood City Pavement Preservation Project (Twin Dolphin Overlay Project) with O'Grady Paving, Inc., in the amount of $451,923 for a total contract of $1,443,334.40; and authorize the City Manager to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the amended contract amount, for a not to exceed total of $1,587,667.84. STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE Transportation BACKGROUND The Redwood City Pavement Preservation Project (Twin Dolphin Overlay) will preserve and extend the serviceable life of Twin Dolphin Drive by protecting the pavement surfaces with a 2" layer of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) concrete. On December 12, 2016 the City Council approved a resolution of local support (Res. No. 15547) authorizing the filing of an application to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for funding from the Local Streets and Roads Preservation Program, committing necessary matching funds, and stating assurance to complete the project. When the resolution was adopted the estimated funding available to Redwood City was $1,209,000 but was later revised to $1,266,000. The $1,266,000 amount is reflected in the executed Program Supplement Agreement received from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
