6.A. - Page 1 of 4 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: August 24, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Approval of amendment of construction contract with O'Grady Paving, Inc. for Redwood City Pavement <br />Preservation Project (Twin Dolphin Overlay) <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to increase the contract amount for the Redwood <br />City Pavement Preservation Project (Twin Dolphin Overlay Project) with O'Grady Paving, Inc., in the <br />amount of $451,923 for a total contract of $1,443,334.40; and authorize the City Manager to increase the <br />contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% of the amended contract amount, for a not to exceed total of <br />$1,587,667.84. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Redwood City Pavement Preservation Project (Twin Dolphin Overlay) will preserve and extend the <br />serviceable life of Twin Dolphin Drive by protecting the pavement surfaces with a 2" layer of Hot Mix <br />Asphalt (HMA) concrete. <br />On December 12, 2016 the City Council approved a resolution of local support (Res. No. 15547) authorizing <br />the filing of an application to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for funding from the Local <br />Streets and Roads Preservation Program, committing necessary matching funds, and stating assurance to <br />complete the project. When the resolution was adopted the estimated funding available to Redwood City <br />was $1,209,000 but was later revised to $1,266,000.
