6.G. - Page 2 of 9 <br />the criteria such as 85th percentile speed', traffic volume, collision history, and pedestrian generators. <br />The evaluation results indicated that Roosevelt Avenue was the second-highest ranked corridor for traffic <br />calming improvements after Hopkins Avenue. In spring 2019, City started the planning phase for traffic <br />calming improvements on Roosevelt Avenue between EI Camino Real and Alameda de las Pulgas (see <br />Attachment A). The draft final planning report for the project is posted online at <br />www.redwoodcity.org/rooseveIt. <br />The project supports the City Council's Strategic Plan and its strategic priority of transportation by <br />developing transportation infrastructure that enables safe and efficient travel to, from, and within the <br />community. <br />ANALYSIS <br />In the past year, City staff with the project consultant, Fehr & Peers, developed a preferred conceptual <br />design for the Roosevelt Avenue corridor from EI Camino Real to Alameda de las Pulgas through a <br />community -driven process. The planning and community engagement process is summarized in <br />Attachment B. <br />Existine Conditions Analvsis <br />The purpose of studying the existing conditions of the corridor is to have a good understanding of <br />challenge areas as well as opportunity areas for improvements. The existing conditions analysis performed <br />a deep technical evaluation of: <br />• Collision history within the corridor and collision factors <br />• Land use context <br />• Areas of pedestrian activity or higher visitors throughout the day and their peak times, such as Mi <br />Rancho Market, Key Market, and Red Morton Community Center <br />• Traffic characteristics (volume, speed, traffic control, etc.) <br />The existing conditions analysis is supported by multi -modal traffic counts on different segments and at <br />intersections along the corridor. <br />Community Engagement Stage 1 (May—June 20191 <br />In May and June 2019, staff conducted the first round of community engagement to get feedback from <br />the community on their current challenges when using Roosevelt Avenue as a pedestrian, bicyclist, driver, <br />or transit user and on improvement opportunities.
