<br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14847 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF <br />LIBRARY FURNITURE FROM PURCHASING AGENCIES AND FROM <br />SINGLE SOURCES ONLY AS SPECIFIED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL <br />ITEM IN THE FURNITURE PLAN SPECIFICATIONS FOR AN AMOUNT <br />NOT TO EXCEED $500,000 AND SUSPENDING THE REQUIREMENTS <br />OF ARTICLE VII, PURCHASING, OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL <br />CODE RELATING TO COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THIS PURCHASE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Redwood Shores Community Library project has been provided <br />with a furniture plan for the interior environment prepared by architectural firm Anderson <br />Brule; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the California Office of Library Construction has approved the <br />furniture plan and furnishings; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, some of these items are available at volume discounts through <br />purchasing agencies, such as U.S. Communities, National IPA, and CMAS, that have <br />already pre-qualified items for purchase by public agencies; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, some of the furnishings that are desired are of such a unique nature <br />and exclusive design that they are available from a single source only, as stated for <br />each individual item in the furniture plan specifications; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the schedule for interior furnishings and the furniture plan IS <br />complete and staff is prepared to proceed with the purchase and placement of <br />furnishings for the new library; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council approved the furniture plan, on file and made <br />available at the Office of the City Clerk, and incorporated herein by this reference, that <br />was presented to the City Council at their meeting on February 25, 2008. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby <br />incorporated by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br /> <br />2. Pursuant to Redwood City Code Section 2.76, the requirements of Article VII, <br />PURCHASING, of Chapter 2 of the Redwood City Code relating to competitive bidding are <br />suspended for this purchase. <br /> <br />3.
