6.B. - Page 1 of 7 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: September 21, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with SCA Environmental to provide <br />environmental services for the construction phase of the California Water Tank, Pump Station and <br />Transmission Main Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Professional <br />Services Agreement with SCA Environmental, Inc. for the services for the construction phase support of <br />the California Water Tank, Pump Station and Transmission Main project in the amount of $185,100 for a <br />total amount of $446,860, and authorize the City Manager and the City Manager's designees to increase <br />the contract amount up to an additional 10%, if necessary. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 27, 2019, the City executed an agreement with SCA Environmental Inc. ("SCA") for the <br />fence line air quality monitoring at this site. Natural occurring asbestos soil is present at the site and the <br />City is required to maintain a monitoring system for airborne asbestos around the perimeter of the site. <br />During earth -moving activities and when asbestos containing soils are disturbed or exposed, daily <br />inspection and air monitoring samples are collected by SCA and sent to a laboratory for testing. All <br />asbestos monitoring and sampling laboratory results are sent to the Bay Area Air Quality Control Board. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Fence line perimeter monitoring must be performed daily by a qualified and certified technician, and all <br />fence line perimeter laboratory results must be submitted to the Bay Area Air Quality Control Board. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />10 <br />
