We organize urban tree -plantings as well as follow-up Karen Fine care of young trees within the urban forest in the Redwood City area. We have planted nearly 3500 trees in our beloved city. Tom Cronin On behalf of the Board of Directors of CityTrees, I am writing to express our Georgi LaBerge thanks to Tishman Speyer for: Taking the time to meet with our Board members on multiple occasions, John Lombardo Listening carefully to our input regarding the existing canopy of large redwood trees at the site of their Gatekeeper Project Proposal (APN: Nancy Radcliffe 052-364-130) at 2300 Broadway in downtown Redwood City, and Adapting the design of their project to preserve a number of those trees. Pat Sehl CityTrees is acutely aware of our community's connection with the natural environment, the urban forest, and in particular the iconic redwood trees after Jack Stephens which this city is named. The 20 mature redwoods that currently stand at 2300 Broadway form a living anchor to the neighboring Courthouse Square, providing Daniel Beeder it with shade and a sense of place. (Emeritus) CityTrees board members met with the developer three times over the last 12 Jane Taylor months to highlight the significance these majestic trees provide to the (Emeritus) community and to discuss the best path to preserve this valued part of our urban forest. Tishman Speyer was responsive throughout the process and respectful of the community input. While it saddens us to lose any of these beautiful trees, we feel gratified that Tishman Speyer has agreed to design a project that saves a grove of at least six of them at the corner of Broadway and Hamilton Streets. In addition, we are encouraged that Tishman Speyer has contracted with Hort Science, a division of Bartlett Tree Experts, to ensure the project progresses in a way that will maintain the health and vitality of these remaining trees.
