From: Clara Jaeckel
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: comment for Agenda Item 7A (planning commission) in 9/21 council meeting
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2020 2:40:52 AM
As you consider which candidates to appoint to the planning commission, I urge you to strive
to diversify the commission membership. Please ensure that the commission includes
members who are from different neighborhoods within the city, so that no one neighborhood
dominates the commission, and who represent demographics not always fully represented in
the past, including tenant and people who cannot easily afford to own their own homes at
current prices, multigenerational households, and a range of age groups.
Having a diverse and representative planning commission will be key in order to realize the
strategic goals of increasing affordable housing and promoting the wellbeing of all Redwood
CIty residents.
Thank you,
Clara Jaeckel
