<br />7E <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Sunday, August 10 <br /> <br />* Two local Hawaiian halao's presenting Hawaiian instruction in hu1a and <br />dance and performance, including a youth balao, Hawaiian band <br />* 6 hands-on projects themed to the Hawaiian Islands, including lei-making, <br />with fresh flowers from Hawaii and other similar projects <br />* Cooking instruction using Hawaiian fruits such as Papaya, Pineapple, and Mango <br />* Demonstrations from Halao' s of other Hawaiian cultural activities <br />* Two hourly presentations from street performers keeping with the theme <br />* Hawaiian drinks and food for sale <br /> <br />Sunday, September 14 <br />* Local dance schools presenting music and dance from the Caribbean followed by a <br />full performance by a Caribbean band, pulled from Carnaval in San Francisco <br />* Dance instruction and 6 hands-on projects themed to the islands of the Caribbean, <br />including mask making, costume preparation, etc. <br />* Cooking instructions using authentic Caribbean recipes <br />* Two separate locations for storytelling and presentation of Caribbean dance <br />* Caribbean food and drinks for sale <br /> <br />The summer activities will be supported with a comprehensive marketing plan, including: <br /> <br />Inclusion in the parks and recreation summer mailer, sent to all Redwood City <br />Residents in the spring of 2008 <br />Radio partnerships with Bay Area radio stations <br />A publicist will be hired to place the activities in Bay Area calendars-both print <br />and on-line. <br />Street banners on Redwood City streets, both downtown, El Camino and on Whipple <br />Road <br />Fliers and posters passed out at local events and to local businesses <br /> <br />In addition, the Target Family Sundays will be promoted through: <br /> <br />6 2" x 8" ads in the San Jose Mercury News, the Redwood City Daily News <br />and 2" x 6" ads in the Palo Alto Weekly <br />4 ads in Bay Area Parent <br />10,000 postcards distributed at neighborhood centers, local businesses and at <br />weekly events <br />200 posters posted throughout the Peninsula <br />Prominent positioning on the Redwood City website <br />
