ALTERNATIVES
The landscape irrigation meters could be converted using standard Radio-read
technology, necessitating meter readers to drive to each meter and collect meter reads
using a laptop computer. This alternative would also require that meter readers work on
weekends and holidays if meter reads for the BBRP are to be collected on the first day
of each month. Furthermore, consumption and budget allocation periods would not be
closely aligned; possibly resulting in inequitable billing practices.

6.1A
Page 3

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $268,481 for the implementation of this project are available in
the Fiscal Year 2007/2008 New Water Meter Technology Pilot Project and $1,556,790
in the Water Conservation Program - Capital Improvement Program budgets.

~
J Ezell
ublic Works Supenntendent

~j3?

Public Works Services Director

~tJt'~ 46r R*.r ~('8.""

eter Ingram
Interim City Manager

ATTACHMENTS
Purchase Agreement for Sensus Metering Systems

RELATED DOCUMENTS IN CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
None
