'f

EXHIBIT "A"
SCOPE OF SERVICES
(18 January 2008)

CITY OF REDWOOD CITY REDWOOD SHORES SANITARY SEWER PUMP STATION
(PS) #12 IMPROVEMENT DESIGN

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Redwood Shores PS #12 is in need of major rehabilitation. Redwood City has identified
the following major elements of construction:

· Conversion of the existing wet~pit dry pit pump station to a wet-pit pump station
utilizing submersible pumps
· Construction of a new valve vault outside of the wet well
· Replacement of the existing pumps with larger pumps to handle the design
ultimate flow
. Installation of a new standby generator

The Consultant's Scope of Services for this Project is described in the following tasks:

. Task 1: Preliminary Design
. Task 2: Contract Documents
. Task 3: Bidding Assistance
· Task 4: Construction Review
· Task 5: Project Management, QAlQC, and Client Meetings

TASK 1: PRELIMINARY DESIGN

In this task we will prepare a draft and final Technical Memorandum. The Technical
Memorandum will include the following:

· The development of a system curve to be used in selecting the properly sized
pumps. Ultimate design flow information is to be provided by Redwood City.
· A review of the existing force main plans to determine if there are any high spots
that might exist where high sulfide corrosion of the A.C. pipe might occur. No
condition assessment or internal inspection of the force main is proposed.
· A meeting with maintenance and engineering staff to determine features that
staff wants to see considered in the final design. This would be done as part of
the scheduled kick-off meeting. Specific design and equipment requirements will
be identified by the City at this time.
· A meeting with PG&E to determine if any electrical service upgrade is required
and assistance in acquiring any new permits.
· A review from the surface of the condition of the concrete surfaces of the wetwell.
No confined space entry into the wetwell is proposed.

C:lIloeument. ond Sol\i'lgs~lon\locol Sollilgs\Temporary Inlernot Ros\OLKA2IRevise<CScopoOlServicos_1.16-oll.doc

1 of6
