Furthermore, the ethnic background was as follows; 51 % were White, 16% were <br />Latino/Hispanic, 16% were Black/African American, 6% were Asian, and 11% were Multiracial <br />and Other combined. No one that identified as Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander <br />participated in the poll. When identifying critical constituent groups, about 49% were Black, <br />Latino, and Asian (67). Finally, in terms of gender, a significant majority of the participants were <br />female, 67%. In comparison, the male group was 31 % and 2% identified as non -binary (Table 2). <br />The Gauging Perspectives Poll <br />In the gauging perspective poll, the participants were asked questions directly related to racial <br />equity and policing. In particular, the poll consisted of 5 questions dealing with diversity, racism, <br />and policing. For this report, the "Strongly Agree/Disagree" and "Agree/Disagree" responses <br />were combined to better represent the "for" or "against" answers for each question, which were <br />divided into the two general categories of policy and inclusion. <br />Table 3. " <br />The first two poll questions asked about police funding and the perception of the city's relation <br />to racial equity. In particular, the policy responses in these questions address defunding the <br />police and the need for actionable items from the city to address structural racism. The first <br />question asked, "I am concerned the City will reduce funding for the police, and we won't have <br />enough police service for a safe community," 77% responded they were not concerned about <br />reducing funding for police. The second question asked, "I am concerned the City will make <br />symbolic or minimal gestures of change regarding systemic racism, but no meaningful change <br />7 <br />61 <br />
