6.P. - Page 1 of 6 <br />/<4-io'k <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />wended 1967 <br />I�Zw <br />DATE: October 12, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Approve Arts Commission's Fiscal Year 2020-2021 funding recommendations for large grants <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve the Arts Commission's funding recommendations for large grants for FY 2020-2021 <br />as provided in Attachment A. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Communication and Community Building <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Arts Commission, on behalf of the City Council, ensures that art, culture, and creative experiences are <br />woven into the fabric of our community by being an advocate for art and cultural awareness, sponsoring <br />arts and culture through grants, and sanctioning public art and events. <br />The Arts Commission receives funding from the City to support local non-profit arts and cultural <br />organizations. For Fiscal Year 2020-2021, a total of $73,896 is available for large grants (grants $1,500 and <br />more), small grants (under $1,500), and for Commission -sponsored events.
