Redwood City Police Activities League's mission is to <br />provide positive programs for at -risk youth in the community. The grant funding would help <br />support a virtual monthly family paint night taught by PAL Art & Enrichment Instructors with hope <br />to engage the entire family through fun art activities accessible for all. Materials will be provided to <br />the families in financial hardship. <br />Funding Requested: $2,000 Funding Recommended: $1,800. <br />Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation — Tile Mosaic. The Redwood City Parks and Arts <br />Foundation exists to advocate, advance, and develop support for parks, recreational programming, <br />community services, cultural activities, and the arts in Redwood City. Their grant request is for a <br />tile mosaic piece or mural at Linden Park. The goal is to incorporate the existing tiles were <br />decorated by neighborhood residents years ago but were remove from the park due to a recent <br />park renovation and also give the neighborhood residents an opportunity to participate in the art <br />project in some way. <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $4,780. <br />Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation — Winkleback. The RWCPAF, in collaboration with <br />property owner Don Gibson, is commissioning a large sculptural art piece mounted to the roof of a <br />prominent building in downtown Redwood City. Artist Misha Naiman will create a metal pin rod <br />Pegasus that will 'leap" from a platform on a street -facing corner of the building. Phase 1 of the <br />project involved a nationwide RFQ and a finalist proposal process. Commission funding would <br />support Phase 2: design, engineering, permitting, and installation <br />Funding Requested: $4,950 Funding Recommended: $4,660. <br />ZiRu Dance. This non-profit dance company mission is to create a platform for excellent artistic <br />collaboration across cultural boundaries. ZiRu Dance prioritizes helping young adults of color and/or <br />recent immigrants grapple with assimilation and cultural identity through the art of dance. This <br />year, ZiRu Dance focuses on bringing local and world class companies to the Peninsula/Silicon <br />Valley through the Silicon Valley Dance Festival for 3 evenings of work called 'Renewal". ZiRu <br />serves a continued mission to support BIPOC performing arts companies, world-class teaching <br />artists, and minority non-profit communities.
