S.A. - Page 13 of 61
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting. Additionally, a legal ad was posted in the newspaper, and the public notice
was sent via email to interested parties and information regarding the Gatekeeper process. The City
announced the Gatekeeper process through City communication channels, including social media posts
and electronic newsletters, and provided interviews to local news organizations. The projects and
hearings have also been posted on the City's website at www.redwoodcity.org/gatekeeper.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Do not take any action on the Gatekeeper Process. This would prohibit any of the proposed projects
from moving forward at this time.
2. Request additional information to be brought back to the Council in conjunction with a particular
project(s). Given other workload, staff anticipates this would occur in the first quarter of 2021.
3. Initiate or deny initiation of any other combination of General Plan Amendment requests, while
keeping total projects at 5, allowing the Central Redwood City Plan visioning process to proceed.
4. Initiate the three housing projects and more than the two commercial /mixed-use projects
recommended by staff (1900 Broadway and 603 Jefferson/750 Bradford) and defer consideration of
the Central Redwood City Plan.
5. Deny initiation of the project located at 651 EI Camino Real (American Legion), but direct staff to
amend the Density Bonus Ordinance in order to facilitate a reduced scale project, provided that the
applicant is willing to proceed in this fashion.
LINKS:
Project Submittals (via Gatekeeper webpage)
August 10, 2020 Staff Report (Study Session 1)
September 21, 2020 Staff Report (Study Session 2)
ATTACHMENTS:
Analysis Material
Attachment A — Gatekeeper Project Analysis
Attachment B—Affordable Housing Impact Calculations
Attachment C — Land Use Studies and Projects Timeline
Attachment D — Central Redwood City Map
Resolutions for Predominantly Housing Projects
1. 1205-1295 Veterans Boulevard
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
280
